Transformational Leadership
Great Time Managment Supports the Transformation

“Imagination is more important than knowledge.”
Albert Einstein

Transformational leadership will be the most effective leadership style for business in the 21st century. North America and most of Europe is moving from the information age into the creative age.  Much of the left-brain-centric work that accelerated our advancement is now being outsourced to other countries or performed by computers and robotics. Our advancement is now fueled by passion and creativity.

The transactional leader relies on authority while the transformational leadership model embraces influence as its prime mover. Both the transactional and the transformational models focus on changed behavior. However, only the transformational leadership model achieves sustained behavioral improvement.

In their research for the book, Influencer, Patterson, Grenny, Maxfield, McMillan and Switzler, found that all influence geniuses (transformational leaders) are inflexible in their focus on behaviors. The first step their subjects used to change behavior was to change the way people thought about the area in need of improvement.  They found people would change their minds and attempt to change their behavior after they internalize two concepts.

Requirements for Sustained Behavioral Change

  • The individual must believe that the behavioral change will be worth the effort required to make the change
  • The individual must believe that they can make the change

One of the major differences between a transformational leadership style and other forms of leadership is the time investment made in the people within the organization. The transformational leader takes an individualized approach with his/her team members by helping the team translate vision into action.

The transformational leader helps the team:

  • Understand the value of reaching the goal
  • Create pathways to reach the goal

Men and women who are masters of the transformational leadership style are usually masters at managing their own time. The leader knows what is truly important for their teams to make a transition. They help the team see the need, they help their team develop an achievable roadmap, they coach the team through the changes needed and celebrate success with the team.

The transformational leader develops transformational teams by giving them the freedom to imagine and accomplish the impossible.
